What is it?

Demand Response Programs from SRP, TEP, and APS provide an opportunity for commercial, institutional, industrial, educational and municipal organizations to earn incentive payments while helping maintain reliable electricity.

When the demand for electricity approaches critical peak levels, utilities and grid operators dispatch demand response network, which is made up of local organizations that have agreed to reduce energy usage during times of high demand. Program participants earn payments for agreeing to be on standby and for curtailing electricity consumption in response to high electricity demand.

e2o Energy assists on getting current utility customers on the program by showing them the savings and the credits they can receive.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a demand response program?
A demand response program pays organizations to reduce electricity use when the grid is under peak strain. Participants agree to be on standby and to curtail usage during called events. SRP, APS and TEP each run programs for commercial, institutional, industrial, educational and municipal customers in their Arizona service areas.
Does demand response cost anything to join?
Demand response is designed so participants can join with no upfront capital cost. You earn payments for being available and for reducing usage during events. Program terms, payment rates and event rules are set by each utility or its program partner, so we review them with you before you enroll.
How often are demand response events called?
Events are typically called on the hottest days, when electricity demand approaches critical peak levels. Frequency and duration vary by utility, program and year. Participants receive advance notice so they can plan. We explain the expected event schedule for your utility’s program before you sign up.
Will demand response affect comfort or operations?
It should not interrupt critical operations if it is planned properly. We help you choose loads that can be reduced briefly, such as adjusting HVAC setpoints or pausing non-essential equipment, and build a response plan your team can follow. You stay in control of how your building responds during each event.
Which utilities offer demand response in Arizona?
SRP, APS and TEP all offer demand response options for business customers. The right program depends on which utility serves your meter. In the Phoenix metro area that may be SRP or APS, and in Tucson it is generally TEP. We confirm your supplier and compare the available options.
What does e2o do for demand response customers?
e2o Energy helps current utility customers get onto the program by showing them the savings and the credits they can receive. We review your facility’s loads, explain the program terms, help with enrollment and build a simple plan for events. That way you know what you are agreeing to before you join.
